Department of Assamese
The Department of Assamese was introduced in 1965, the very year of the establishment of the college. Late Robin Rajkhowa was the only teacher in the department at the beginning. Then late Abonidhar Baruah joined in 1973. Both contributed and sacrificed a lot for the upliftment of the department as well as the college. Dr. Pallabi H. Saikia joined in 1995 and Mrs. Gitali Hazarika in 1997. Dr. P.H. Saikia got her superannuation recently.
Departmental Activities:
The department has a mini library and subscribes two Assamese periodicals – ‘Prantik’ and Gorioshi’. Both the periodicals and books are subscribed by the teacher’s own contribution.
