Department of Bengali
In 1965, on the auspicious eve of Sri Panchami, CKB Commerce College was established with the task of Spreading Commerce as education within Assam and North East under able leadership of eminent educationist and great personality Late Madhab Chandra Chakraborti. At first teaching was provided in English, Bengali, Assamese, Hindi, Accountancy, Economics, B.O.C.P. and few other subjects. Mr. Kanai Sen, came from Kolkata to join the Bengali Department here. After he left, Parameswar Roy started teaching in Bengali department from 1971. After one year, he left the college and in 1972, Dr. Tapan Deb of D.C.B. Girls College joined this College as a part timer. In the year 1973 Dr. Purnendu Chakrabarty joined this College in the department of Bengali and retired as Sl. Grade Lecturer in 2004. He even extended his services to the college after retirement up to the year 2009. Mr. Prosanto Mandal joined the department as Assistant Professor on 30.06.2009.
Departmental Activities:
The Department offers Bengali classes for the B.Com students and H.S. Courses. Besides other college duties, the teacher of the department also contributes his services in taking DODL, IGNOU and Remedial classes in the college premises. It further organizes seminars, special lectures, talks, etc. on literary as well as socially relevant issues.
