Department of Accountancy

The DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCYwas amongst few departments started at the inception of the college in the year 1965.  Founder Principal and pioneer of Commerce education in Assam,  Late Madhab Chandra Chakraborty, founder Vice Principal Dwijendra Nath Sarmahand founder teacher Khagendra Nath Sarmah Baruah  were the first three teachers in Accountancy.

The department has been offering major in Accounting and Finance since its inception.  The students of the department have been able to earn glory to the college through their performance in University examinations. Several students from the department has got First Class First in Accountancy under Dibrugarh Universitysince inception.

Faculty members of the department are being engaged in research works and they published number of research papers in reputed national and international journals, completed minor research projects and participated in national and international Seminars. They also extended their service as resource person in entrepreneurship training programmes and in other social activities through NGOs, Literary and Cultural organisations.

The department has introduced “ChinmoySaikia Memorial Award”of Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand)to the best graduate of the College having speciality in Accounting and Finance from the year 2008. The award is given with the donation received from  Dr.MitaliBarua in memory of her husband Late ChinmoySaikia who was a brilliant Product of this College.

A news bulletin “VANIJYA DARPAN”is maintained by the students of the department to make aware about the current changes in the field of Commerce and Economics. Moreover, the department has a separate library.
