CENTRAL LIBRARY: CKB COMMERCE COLLEGE: JORHAT: ASSAM

CKB Commerce College library was established in the year  1965 with 300 books and five nos. of wooden almirahs. At present we have about 23,000+ books and 6 journals. The library is housed on the second floor of the Administrative Building. There are two separate Reading Rooms for students and teachers which can accommodate 40 persons. There are ten computers connected with internet facilities in our library. Bar-Coding system is also prevailing in the library.

To provide uninterrupted services to the readers, all the computers have been interconnected through LAN and WiFi facilities. An Integrated Library Management System “KOHA” has been installed newly along with “SOUL” to streamline the processes in the library. Search procedures for books have been made more user friendly with the installation of OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)

4. Library Committee:

There is a library Committee headed by Principal Dr. Ranjit Sarma as the Chairman and the Librarian as the Convener. All the Heads of Departments are the members of this committee.

5. Library Rules:         

Users of the Central Library have to follow the following rules while visiting the library.

a)      Every person stepping into  the library should register their attendance with the Barcode Attendance System or with the Manual

Register

b)      No Personal belongings except purses and notebooks will be allowed to be carried to the Reading Room

c)      Pets such as dogs, cats are not allowed inside the library.

d)      Readers should maintain silence in the library premises.

e)      Students and teachers are allowed to borrow two and four books respectively at a time for fifteen days and for a month.

f)       No books will be re-issued except when presented physically

g)      The Library will remain open to the reader on all working days except holidays from 10.00a.m to 4-30 p.m.

h)      The readers should behave in a civilized manner.

i)        The readers are liable for punishment and fine for any damage made to the books or any other property of the library.

Currently, the central library is housed on the second floor of the administrativebuilding. It contains 23300+ text and reference books and provides necessary digitalservices to users. There is two separate Reading Rooms for students and teachers which can accommodate 40 persons. There are 10 computers connected with internet facilities in our library. Bar-Coding system is also prevailing in the library.The library follows the Open Access System and uses Koha (anintegrated library management system) for library automation. Search procedures for books have been made more user friendly with the installation of OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog).

Library Working Hours

Library is available for the users from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. fromMonday-Saturday.

Library remains closed on every Sunday and in the Govt. holidays.
